A lot of Support!

I have to be honest, I am really blown away by the support that has already started with the project. I want to thank everyone who has linked this blog and forwarded it on to others, I appreciate it a ton. Not much new to report until after the holidays, so have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Rollin' Along

Just a quick update, logo is in and has been sent down for design, thanks to Becky from the Foundation for getting me the needed art. That was the next step and things are moving along, now time to start making sure I have all of the parts needed to complete the bike and have it ready to go for next season.

Thanks to all who are on board with this, not only will this be for a good cause, but also will show how great it is when a lot of different people give just a little, makes a racer rather anxious for the next season to get here! OK, a little break is needed, I guess.

The Pink Bike Idea?

As the 2006 season came to an end, the thought, what bike will I ride next season? I decided that I would have my S-Works Epic painted PINK! Why? Well, the girls both like the color pink, my first road bike was pink, and to be honest I myself kind of like the color. So I have this idea to paint the bike pink, I am at a press conference with Deanna Favre and the unveiling of her HOPE Foundation clothing line when the idea hits me. After the event is over, I mention the idea to her and she says that it is a cool idea and that she would support it with the foundation.

Fast forward, I mention it to a friend at Trek Bikes (www.trekbikes.com), she runs it by a few people at Trek to see what they think. Hit fast forward again, looks like Tricia has found a way to get me a Top Fuel frame in PINK!!!! Thank you very much for the effort Tricia!

As we sit right now, just waiting for the HOPE Foundation to get me some artwork so the design can be done up and I can send it down to Waterloo. So I am crossing my fingers that I get a return phone call real soon, I would love to see this become a reality for the next 2 or 3 seasons.

Why the project, I have a Wife and 2 Daughters, a Mother, Mother-in-law, Step-Mother, Sister and Sister-in-law, 4 step-Sisters, lots of ladies in the family! With the cancer hitting any one these days, I would like to support the people that have taken care of me and still do take care of me, thanks ladies. I figure a girl on a pink bike is pretty much normal, a guy on a pink bike is not normal, a big guy racing on a pink bike will hopefully cause people to grab a second look and see that it is more than just a color, its a message! Take care of yourself!

I will have a donation box at as many races as I can, I will ask Race Directors like myself if they will waive my entry fee so I can put the $25-30 towards the HOPE Foundation to support women and their fight against Breast Cancer, and just try to make the bike as visible as possible.

One last thing, the Fellas out there need to know men can have breast cancer as well, I heard this about 4 years ago doing a TV story on Breast Cancer and never forgot it.
