Rocky Mountain High!

Been a while since the last post, on the road for work, had to cover the Pack in Denver. A great game and a great win for the Green and Gold, very Favre like finish that just deflated the already deflated (Rockies) Colorado sports fans, oh well! Anyone that knows me is well aware of my love for the state of Colorado and the mountains, could not get up in the big hills due to work but you can see them from the street in front of our hotel, I just love breathing the fresh mountain air!!!!!!
What is this photo, of course it is my view for an hour while we waited on the tarmac at O'Hare, waiting for some Yoopers to get in from Dallas so they could ride the puddlejumper all the way back to Marquette.

Back at the training, Ice man is coming up in 2 weeks, need to stay on the bike...so the alarm continues to annoy me at 430am. Take care and have a good day!

Iceman training...more Pink!

So the training continues, alarm goes off at 430am and I roll out sometime relatively shortly thereafter, dedication or insanity? OK, today it was a little chilly on the bike, checkout the temp reading on my computer! 37 degrees and that was after a little over and hour on the roads, but hey...I am going to have a great race this year and this is what it is going to take, so into the cold darkness I ride!
Check out the new arrival from RockyMounts, there it is......a pink tray for the roof rack. Now ol' Pinky will be rolling to the races in style! Thanks to Bobby for the hook up, check out www.rockymounts.com, great stuff and I have to say that I was very impressed with the quality and just the overall product from RockyMounts! Look for the logo on our team kits next season as they will be a supporting sponsor of the team in '08. More photos and review after I get things installed and get the Pink Top Fuel strapped on, remember...Pink is the new black, right Holcomb!

That's a Wrap (on the WORS season)

Saturday was a busy cycling day, the morning had the family minus Kiki on the bikes riding around to the local Chocolate shops in the Green Bay area (Chocolate Clunker Classic), and then late afternoon and late evening a few of the Stadium boys hit the road for Stevens Point to collect some awards and goodies.

The Chocolate ride was a good time, of course when the incentive was Chocolate, the ride is a breeze. The girls had a good time and we even just made it in time to pick up the dancer from her class, thanks to Mike G. for the organization of the ride.

The awards banquet was a good time as always, Spotted Cows and tasty food, awards and of course lots of goodies to give away. I grabbed the 3rd place plaque for the 2nd year in a row, a few of the other team guys snagged some awards, and then we waited for the looting to begin.

The loot, a nice little Sigma light and a pair of arm warmers, cool to win two things you can use right away! Time for bed as the Iceman training continues, 3 weeks and we hit the line. A quick thanks to all who put on the races and made the season happen, thanks to Don for giving us the series to race, it is a gem! Personally, a more formal thank you will go out in the near future, but thanks to all for the support this year, it has been a great year and I have achieved a lot of things I did not know were possible, thanks to all!

The biggest thank you, to Kristin...Kennedy...and Ellie, thanks for letting me train all of the time and race for yet another year!!!!!

What's up?

The 2008 Madone is all built up and ready to rock and roll sometime this weekend, a very sweet ride! Saturday finds a big group of bike loving fools who also have a sweet tooth hitting the local Chocolate scene here in GB, the Roadmaster is out of the attic and all polished up, of course photos to follow.

Off to pick up some A-wards tomorrow night, be nice to come home with a little SCHWAG as well, fingers and toes are crossed.

Next week will see the arrival of a pink fork mount tray for Pinky, yep...gonna have a special place on the ol' roof rack just for "the pink one!" Of course it does come from the good people in Boulder, http://www.rockymounts.com/, go see what else they have for you all to haul the two wheelers once you drop the training wheels!

Sleepy time, the NEW Madone wants to go for an early morning ride, OK, I give in...I'll go.

Mmmmm, it's on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The call came in from the shop, Randy says, "its available, do you still want it?" One more phone call and then call Randy back, yes the 2008 Madone 5.2 Pro is on the way! Love the new features of the frame, a few things that suit me (the bigger boned rider), just fine! Excitement is building, for the bike and for the Iceman Cometh, oh yes it will...oh yes it will.

The Win...Finally!

Loaded up the family and headed down to Sheboygan to see what JonnyBoy had to offer this year, awesome as usual! The course changes were very good, made for real nice flow, but still managed to work the riders pretty good. The race offers a holeshot prime about a 1/2 mile right after the start, I did not really plan to go for the cash, but after getting the start that I wanted...I found myself sitting in 4th as we hit the pavement. So I moved around Paul and grabbed 3rd for $5, good way to start the race.

Off we go for the real racing, the holeshot winner was blasting off the front, Paul and I just kind of felt like there was no way he could keep it up so we let him burn himself up...worked. After he popped Paul and I took off with Paul getting a little jump on me which proved to just enough to allow him to pull away. I got caught up in a bunch of lapped traffic on lap 2 and I knew I was losing a bunch of time to him, working thru that took way too long! Lap 3 began and I felt the chilly sweats coming on, but I just told myself no way, not today. I knew I was in 1st for the 35+ Clydes and I was not about to lose that, so I rode thru a little overheating feeling and dug in for an extra chunk of energy to get to the finish.

The result, my first ever Clyde win, I have to say that it felt pretty good to cross the line knowing that I was the 1st one across for my age class! I dug in and fought it out, the start was key as we blasted off and worked really hard to get a big gap right away. I now know that I do have the ability to hammer the start and trust my body to recover and come back around for me! Good times and a trip to the top step!

Thanks to Kristin and the girls for hanging out in the heat and handing bottles to me! Big thanks to Trek, Chris King, Hayes-Sun-Ringle, Rock Shox for hooking me up with the equipment to make it happen! Also thanks to Don and WORS for another great season of racing.
